A family owned hotel first open in 2005 under the name Rantung Beach Hotel and Restaurant, the name is from the beach just in front of the property. It was so remote back then. In 2018 the daughter came back after living abroad in many different countries. The one place where she felt a deep connection with was India in which she had lived  for several years before she took over the place. When she first arrived, she saw many sea turtles swimming in the sea in front of the hotel. She decided that she would name the hotel “Kacchapa”. In Sanskrit, “kacchapa” (कच्छप) means tortoise or turtle. As creatures that live in the ocean and nest on land, it represent a bridge between earth, sea and sky. She hopes that each guest feels that connection as she felt when she first arrived at the property.
